Matt the Thresher on Pembroke Street celebrated its official opening with a wonderful evening of the finest foods and wines for friends, family and well wishers. The place has been beautifully redecorated and is now a light, bright gastropub offering a mouth-watering menu with a focus of fresh fish and seafood from the kitchen of chef Steven Caviston.
Owners Jimmy and Charlotte Lyons (she’s an interior designer) were receiving bouquets and good luck cards throughout the afternoon, from their kind neighbours such as Adrian Copeland nextdoor.
Guests included Kathryn Thomas, (who left to attend an awards ceremony and then came back), Dragon’s Den stars Bobby Kerr and Gavin Duffy, Dublin City Sheriff Brendan Walsh with his wife Ruth, restaurateur Asheesh Dewan, and members of the extended Lyons and Caviston families.
Oceans of champagne, tankers of Guinness and hundreds of oyster and crab claws set the scene for an evening of generous hospitality which was enjoyed by all.
