Spring is in the air and it’s time to get out into the garden.  EVERLEIGH GARDEN, Dublin’s newest club, has just launched the Garden Party, happening Thursday and Friday evenings from 6pm ‘til late.

Suits, boots, ties and pencil skirts filled the club on Thursday evening as many eager guests rushed straight from their desks to grab a well deserved after-work drink.  Guests were in top form, with ice chilled Tiger Beer and Absolut cocktails along with food from Captain America’s to keep the party going.

EVERLEIGH GARDEN is unique to the Irish market describing itself as 70% outdoors, 30% indoors and 100% friendly, it has been designed to toy with the senses.  Themed in the style of a Mediterranean garden it cleverly mixes covered, heated, comfortable outdoor areas with similarly themed indoor areas.

Situated on one of the capitals busiest night life streets, Harcourt Street, Everleigh Garden welcomes guests 7 nights a week till late, with The Garden Party every Thursday & Friday Evenings, 6pm and brings a long overdue new concept to Dublin’s clubbing scene.

The European premiere of LINCOLN, which took place this week in the Savoy Cinema, Dublin in aid of the Wicklow Hospice Foundation, was certainly a star studded affair.  Director Steven Spielberg was in attendance along with cast members Daniel Day-Lewis and Sally Field.

Guests who attended the premiere included President Michael D Higgins and wife Sabina, Bono and Ali Hewson, The Edge, Rosanna Davison with parents Diane and Chris de Burgh, Shane MacGowan and Victoria Clarke, Barry McGuigan, Oliver Callan and Norah Casey, amongst many others.

Attendees tucked into Lindt chocolates at the screening and enjoyed a post premiere ball at the Burlington Hotel where almost €200,000 was raised for Wicklow Hospice Foundation, thanks in no small part to the patronage and support of DDL and his friends.  Best of luck at the Oscars!

Workin' 9 to 5

Dolly Parton's 9 TO 5: The Musical has debuted at the BGE Theatre in Dublin and played to packed audiences as part of its first ever UK & Ireland tour. The hilarious comedy is based on the hit movie and centres on three office workers who turn the tables on their sexist, egotistical, lying, hypocritical bigot of a boss.

Natalie Casey (Hollyoaks, Two Pints of Lager and a Packet of Crisps), Bonnie Langford, West-End star Amy Lennox , Ben Richards (The Bill, Footballers’ Wives) and comedienne Jackie Clune give stellar performances and there’s even appearances from the diva Dolly herself!

With plenty of gags and well known songs the audience was as much part of the show as those on stage.

Among the guests on the first night were Alison Canavan, Marie Staunton, Claire Byrne, Michelle Doherty and Jenny Buckley.  The show ends on Saturday so this really is your last chance to see it in Ireland.

One of Dublin’s top hotels, Dylan, is on a quest of self improvement at the moment and there seems to be no stopping it.  Constantly evolving but remaining a firm favourite, the hotel has just launched its own magazine, also named, appropriately, Dylan.

Fans and friends of the 5-star hotel gathered on Wednesday evening to celebrate the new magazine and were warmly welcomed by GM Grainne Ross.  Perrier Jouet Champagne cocktails went down a treat while canapés from the Dylan kitchen whetted appetites.

In the magazine, which will be published bi-annually, the experienced Dylan staff share their knowledge of all that Dublin has to offer - everything from fashion and beauty tips to food and cocktail recipes, and from celebrity interviews to stylish gadgets and keeping fit.

The inaugural edition has head chef Glenn Murphy and Food and Beverage boss Raphael Bondelle teach readers how to create delicious dishes and cocktails, including Raphael’s signature Chocolate Martini, while fashionistas can read about the latest trends and gain an insight to rising fashion designer J.W Anderson.

Guests on the night included designer Pauric Sweeny, TV3's The Holiday Show presenters Ciara Whelan and John Slattery, Daisy Regan of concierge experts Quintessentially Lifestyle, Tina Koumarianos of IMAGE magazine and top chef Martjin Kajuiter.  Sonya Lennon and Brendan Courtney were there; both of them are soon to launch their own eponymous fashion label Lennon Courtney.

For many at the party it was an opportunity to admire the Dylan’s newly redesigned terrace area, an Oriental-style space sure to be the hottest spot for al fresco socialising this season - and we’re not just talking about the retractable roof!
