The Porterhouse Brewing Company, Ireland's largest genuine Irish brewery, launched its annual Oktoberfest which will take place in all five Porterhouses throughout the UK & Ireland. Oktoberfest kicks off on Thursday, 18th and runs to Sunday 28th October 2007. Draught and bottled beers from all regions of Germany have been specially imported for the occasion and to complement these unique beers, German themed food will also be available in all Porterhouse bars as daily specials. The Porterhouse locations are in Temple Bar, Nassau Street, Glasnevin, Bray and Covent Garden, London.
Entertainment on the evening was provided by comic and popular street performer David McSavage, who, as always, brought the audience to the edge. Playing guitar and singing satirical ditties, his onstage rants and acts come from an active comic imagination and plenty of Porterhouse beer! Among those at the event were Dave Morrissey and Oliver Hughes, Sinead Ryan, Fergal Breen, Clare Dillon, Diane Henderson and Declan Rooney.
Throughout the festival staff in lederhosen costumes will distribute samples of beer to customers allowing them to taste the delights of the Porterhouse brewing techniques. Events taking place during Oktoberfest include, stein holding, stein racing, frankfurter tossing, yodeling and strudel eating competitions.
Go forth and drink (responsibly).
