Parfumarija (pronounced ‘perfume-maria’) Ireland’s first niche perfume boutique dedicated to exclusive perfume and colognes opened in the Westbury Mall last week. The brainchild of perfumer Marija Aslimoska, and her husband Brendan Coyle, Parfumarija has been created to be the home of rare scents in Dublin; stocking different and special fragrances for men and women, made by some of the world’s top perfumers.

There is also nu_be, a collection of five creative but simple fragrances for men and women, oozing crisp Italian coolness; and The Different Company, a leading name in haute parfumerie, founded by Jean-Claude Ellena, in house perfumer of Hermes, with celebrated perfume bottle designer, Thierry De Baschmakoff.

Other Parfumarija collections selected for their adventurous spirit and unconventional approach include  Ys-Uzac, a Swiss niche perfume brand by perfumer Vincent Micotti; and Agonist, a Swedish range with six unisex perfumes, each characterised by a finely balanced combination of natural fragrances.

Perfumer Marija Aslimoska was classically trained in Grasse, the historic home of perfume in the South of France, and has been described as an exciting fresh talent in the creation and selection of scents.  Marija’s ambition is to change the way Irish people perceive fragrance, taking individuals on a journey of discovery into niche perfume, she says.

The Jameson Cult Film Club pulled out all the stops for its explosive double screening of the 1988 action classic DIE HARD. Following on from the successful screening of the gritty Irish crime flick INTERMISSION back in June, organisers treated ticket holders to an exclusive viewing experience at Dublin’s Tivoli Theatre, which was completely transformed into the foyer of Nakatomi Plaza for the evening.

The crowd were completely immersed in the film from the moment they arrived as sirens and police cars barricaded the entrance while LAPD’s finest Sergeant Al Powell interacted with the gathering crowd and offered words of support to John McClane on the police radio.

Once inside characters from the movie led by Hans Gruber used props and themed special effects to act out key scenes in front of the audience including Marco’s body falling from the roof onto Al’s police car, shards of ‘glass’ and ‘debris’ landing on the audience during one of the bigshoot out scenes.

Enjoying the Jameson Cult Film Club experience were rugby player Mike McCarthy, Devon Toner as well as David Coffey, Aidan Power, Dermot Whelan and Lottie Ryan.  Following the screening, the party continued in true Jameson style with guests tucking into ‘Yippee-Ki-Yay Burgers’ and Jameson, Ginger and Lime long drinks while DJ Aidan Kelly took to the decks.

The Jameson Cult Film Club made its debut in Cork with an unforgettable screening of Snatch at the Cork City Hall. This event was brought on the road following the highly successful screenings of cult classics Reservoir Dogs, Alien, The Usual Suspects and The Blues Brothers in Dublin.

Guests were also treated to ‘Micky O’Neill’ burgers and ‘Turkish’ sausages while enjoying the refreshing Jameson and Ginger cocktails.  Enjoying the experience were rugby stars Thomas O’Leary and Doug  Howlett as well as Munster player Billy Holland.

Cork City Hall was completely transformed into a series of sets from the film; including an open trailer park and a boxing ring as characters from the movie greeted guests and re-enacted famous scenes from the movie live on stage. Throughout the screening, live theatre, props and staging transported the audience into the world of a London Gangster, creating an electric atmosphere in the venue.
