With the most miserable ‘summer’ for many years behind us we have little to look forward to but more of the same. Thanks then to the good people at Columbia who dedicate their lives to improving ours. The top sportswear brand has just launched the new OutDry range and Scott Bowen, Columbia’s European Director of Footwear no less, flew into Dublin especially for the event.

Wet hands and feet can be a thing of the past with the revolutionary new OutDry technology as it reinvents the way waterproof footwear and gloves are made. While the standard construction method of old prevents water from reaching your body, it allows large amounts of water to penetrate the outer surface of shoes and gloves – which makes them heavy, cold and uncomfortable.

OutDry works by permanently fusing a highly elastic, high performance, membrane directly to the outer material of the product via a patented pressure and temperature controlled process. This process completely seals all seams and eliminates the empty space between the outer material and the membrane where water and debris could collect.

Where better to host the event than the Great Outdoors store on Chatham Street where the guests included Heather Irvine and Vanessa Lawrenson of Outsider magazine, Quintessentially’s Ciara Egan, ultra marathon runner Eoin Keith along with Ziggy Balinski of Glendalough House. And while the new product range is dry, the party was anything but.
