National Centre for Epilepsy

At the National Centre for Epilepsy launch event were: 1. Noreen, Geraldine and Paula Dollard and Fran Dempsey; 2. Taoiseach Brian Cowen with Aidan Walsh, head of Fiat Ireland; 3. Tara O’Leary and Niamh Walsh.

Last week saw the lavish launch of Irelands first National Centre for Epilepsy, which took place at a ball in the Four Seasons Hotel. Guests were treated to a Kasteel Cru drinks reception, a 5 course banquet, and delicious wines courtesy of Gilbeys, who were sponsors for the evening.

The lucky ladies each received a luxury goodie bag courtesy of Brown Thomas, with Yves Saint Laurent fragrances, and their signature candles, while the men weren’t left out either- with each receiving a miniature Alfa Romeo Car (they donated a real 147 Colleczione for the auction) along with a very generous voucher from Suitable Company on Grafton Street.

With Gerry Ryan as MC, the night was full of surprises and among the guests on the night were An Taoiseach Brian Cowen, Minister for Health Mary Harney and her partner Brian Geoghan, Brian and Marjorie Wright-Goff, Dr. Norman Delenty, Adrian Walsh and Tara O’Leary of Fiat Ireland, Julian and Mary Davis, Elisabeth Fitzpatrick and Laura Rochford and Bernard Condren of Goffs Bloodstock.

Due to be a €40m be a state of the art in-patient and out-patient facility the centre will be open to both public and private patients. It will also provide timely access to assessment, diagnostic and treatment services to individuals with new or suspected epilepsy and related disorders.
