Hamptons summer with Tommy Hilfiger

Tommy Hilfiger teamed up with The Gloss magazine to host a party in the flagship Tommy store on Grafton Street and give guests a taste of summer. 

Collections for men and women were presented including the African inspired ‘Promise Collection’, all proceeds of which are donated to the Millennium Promise charity.  The soundtrack to the evening was provided by local talent Mo Kelly on the decks on the first floor and rock n’ roll sounds by Irish acts Fusion Family and Rosa & Rory on the ground floor.

Guests, including Lorraine Keane, Maria Fusco, JJ Gibbons, Sunil Shah and his wife Jay, were treated to a taste of the Hamptons with mini American bites and Long Island Iced Teas, Cosmopolitans and homemade lemonade and enjoyed a generous discount on the evening.

HTC One meets Royseven

Critically acclaimed Irish band Royseven played an intimate, invite only gig at 4 Dame Lane in Dublin recently, footage of which will be released as a music video.  A group of 12 aspiring photojournalists were invited to record the event on HTC One series phones as part of a partnership with Hot Press magazine and their work will be released as a pop video which will be distributed over the internet later in the month.

A host of well-known names and faces celebrated in the name of charity and children recently. The 85th Variety World Conference took place in Dublin and the Variety Club Humanitarian Awards gala ceremony at The Burlington Hotel was part of the series of events.

US President Barack Obama sent good wishes for this massive charity drive, along with HRH Prince Philip; the British and Canadian, Australian and New Zealand Prime Ministers and our own President Michael. D Higgins.

Three Irish Humanitarians were honoured by Variety International on the night.  Derek O'Neill, international Humanitarian and Philanthropist; Caroline Downey-Desmond, charity fundraiser, director of MCD and Event Producer of the annual Childline concert and Dr. Fin Breatnach, Consultant Paediatric Oncologist, formerly with Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital in Crumlin and Barretstown, retired and working with an oncology colleague in Tanzania offering healthcare advice in haematology and oncology.

CARI Lunch 2012

Miriam Ahern hosted her annual summer lunch and fashion show in aid of CARI, supported by RTÉ 2fm and M&S at The Shelbourne Hotel Dublin.  This year marks the 10th Anniversary of the annual summertime lunch which was hosted by Alan Hughes.  The afternoon kicked off with a champagne reception followed by a fashion show by Karen Millen, Coast, Oasis, Bastyan, M&S and Cari’s Closet. 

Guests on the day included Georgina Byrne, Cecelia Ahern, Yvonne Keating, Lisa Duffy, Jane Given, RTÉ Sonya Lennon, Colm Hayes and Ruth Scott from RTÉ 2fm.  Also in attendance were  Ian Galvin , Lisa Fitzpatrick, Fair City’s Ciara O’Callaghan, Louise Loughman, Virginia Macari and Roz Flanagan all supporting the charity that provides professional, child therapy and counselling services to children and families who have been affected by child sex abuse.

Pho20graphy exhibit

Pho20graphy is a selection of works from the book of the same name which is a 20 year retrospective of award winning Barry McCall’s work, photographed in aid of the Irish children’s charity ISPCC. The exhibition showcases Barry’s unique style that celebrates the best of fashion and celebrity pushing the boundaries of technique and vision to create works of art.

Irish actress and ISPCC ambassador Saoirse Ronan whose image is on the cover of the book, which was published in 2010 and raised in excess of 350,000 euro for the charity, officially opened the invite only launch of the exhibition at The Copper House Gallery, located off Synge Street. The exhibition will run until 11th June, 2012.

A number of well-known faces who feature in the book and exhibition attended the launch event including Game of Thrones actor Liam Cunningham, Sharon Corr, Glenda Gilsen, Lorraine Keane, Martin King, Guggi, Dave Fanning to name but a few. Other well-known faces who do not feature in the exhibition but who have in the past been photographed by Barry including singer Brian Kennedy, designer Joanne Hynes, DJ Aiden Power were also there.

Angel's Quest

Over 200 fashionable ladies turned out at the Angels Quest annual Spring Fashion Lunch in association with Arnotts at the Four Seasons where the department store showcased 50 looks on 10 top Irish models from their summer collections including brands like Lauren by Ralph Lauren, Vivienne Westwood
Anglomania, Calvin Klein, Trina Turk, Love Moschino, Hoss Intropia and T Tahari.

Pamela Flood and Lorraine Keane were acting as MC's on the day and other attendees included organiser Deirdre Kelly, Arnotts Fashion and Beauty Director Deirdre Devaney, designer Peter O'Brien,
Sallyann Clarke from L'Ecrivain, Padraig Harrington's wife Caroline Harrington, Sonia Reynolds and publisher Norah Casey.

All money raised at the event went to Angels Quest charity, which provides respite care homes for special needs children from the ages of 2 to 16. This is done through partnership with organisations that have similar aims and have resources to bring to the effort. The objective in this area is to get the homes fully operating and utilising its full capacity. This is done through working with the partner organisations to identify the levers and barriers and by supporting them in implementing the needed steps to get to
full occupancy.
